Birds of Prey on the move!

                                                                Peregrine Falcon - Acrylic on paper 11x14
Ah, Birds you say?” “Something for spring.” Yes Maybe, that’s when they come back. Songbirds are best seen in spring. But fall is a great time to watch Birds of Prey.
To get closer to my wild subjects I did volunteer work for the Audubon Center and went Hawk banding and songbird banding with my mentor in my wildlife rehab training.
It was so amazing; I never knew there was such diversity and color among birds.
How could I have missed all this wonderful “Sky Confetti”?
This brings me to the first signs of fall – autumn migrations.
So when you step outside take a look around and up.
Have some fun and treat it like a treasure hunt.

Here is a tip for finding some of those birds leaving town.
The best time to see birds on the move is when we get a cold snap and or on a windy day with a North West wind.
and some links;
 Check out the Audubon Society * http://ny.audubon.org/ to learn more about some good places to spot migratory birds or email Education coordinator, Larry Federman of Audubon NY at birderlarry@verizon.net  or JOHN BURROUGHS of the NATURAL HISTORY SOCIETY http://www.jbnhs.org/ or ebird.org.(upstate NY) View and explore a real-time, online, program, eBird collects observations from birders like you and shares them.
As “they” say Birds of a Feather stick together. So I hope to see you, my fine feathered friends, around town (looking up of course).
 This is a painting I did from life and if you're interested it's available as a print.
